The three-part series centres on the close and often fraught relationship between sisters Vanessa Bell and Virginia Woolf, and Vanessa’s sexually complicated alliance with gay artist Duncan Grant as they, and their group of like-minded friends, navigate their way through love, sex and artistic life through the first half of the 20th century.

خلاصه داستان : "هروی رتن" از سرکردگان اصلی باندهای موادمخدر که به هجده سال حبس محکوم شده است به همراه خواهرزاده اش به طرز عجیبی بعد از تحمل تنها دوسال حبس مورد عفو سلطنتی قرار گرفته و آزاد می شوند. اما به فاصله بسیارکوتاهی پس از آزادیش "رتن" به طرز مشکوکی به قتل می رسد و پرونده این جنایت به به بازپرسی به نام "جونا گابریل" واگذار می شود که در عملیات قبلی ظاهرا به دلیل اشتباه او همکارش کشته شده و حال پس از سه ماه بیهوشی به سر کارخود بازگشته است. اما ظاهرا او تنها شخص علاقه مند به این ماجرا نیست و اشخاص دیگری هم قصد دارند علت مرگ "رتن" و آنچه را که قصد انجامش را داشته بدانند. ظاهرا معامله مواد بزرگی در شرف انجام بوده و گروهبان پلیسی به نام Foley و همکارش Joseph Bede بنا به دلایلی میخواهند بخشی از این معامله باشند.
